Q‘I have been asked to produce and self-publish a book for a professional event in my field in five months. From there, I aim to continue selling it afterwards as a marketing tool. I haven’t even started writing it yet! Is this possible? What would my publishing schedule look like?’
AThis is tight timing but doable. The first thing you need to consider is the length of the book, the overall tone and content, and then map out the structure of each chapter. Then get writing! Although the ideal length for this kind of book would be 60,000 words, given that you only have a few months you may want to aim for 30,000 words, with a goal of writing 1,000 words a day. You’ll want to line up a developmental editor to work alongside you and a copyeditor and proofreader for the latter stages.
