Noir Nation is a crime fiction journal with bite. It publishes fiction, nonfiction, and poetry ‘that explore the darker regions of human experience, where the only crime is weak writing’. Realism is preferred, with current or near past settings. Submit stories from flash length (‘a fifty-word paragraph) up to 3,000- word short stories. Preferred length is 1,000 to 2,000 words.
Non-fiction is welcomed in the form of essays on the noir literary genre which should have ‘a focus on books and writers, not films, or be in the creative true crime tradition’. Poetry ‘can take any form or style but should be thirty lines or less’. For poetry it’s the tone and treatment which are more important than the subject matter.
