There’s much to commend the prime standard lens: this is a 50mm focal length in the 35mm format, 35mm in APS-C format and 25mm in Micro Four Thirds. You can pick up a f/1.8 or f/2 version for modest money and they are compact, generally excellent optically and give a perspective comparable to the human eye. Their relatively fast aperture, compared with a typical standard zoom, is a practical benefit.
