DxO releases PhotoLab 8
Leading image editor and file manager gets features and performance improvements n alternative to image processing and file management
A software such as Adobe Lightroom and Capture One,PhotoLab 8 uses proprietary DeepPRIME noise reduction and detail enhancement technology. This has been updated to DeepPRIME XD2s in PhotoLab 8, with the user experience during processing improved by the addition of a large preview ‘loupe’, replacing the tiny preview display in the previous version. The Tone Curve panel gets an update, now offering both Luma and
RGB curve adjustments, plus a Lightroom-style Tone Picker tool, which can be used to drag up and down on areas of the image to create and shift a tone curve point. Other improvements include a Hue Mask tool for selecting specific colours within the mask area, a new Compare mode, faster and better scrolling and display for LUTs, faster image loading and various bug fixes. www.dxo.com; from £129/$139 (Essential, new). from £75/$65 (upgrade from version 7)
SAVE THE DATE! 8-11 March 2025 at ExCeL London
The Photography & Video Show is moving to London for 2025
Event will alternate biennially between the capital and Birmingham
The venue might have changed, but this essential event for photo and video fans will continue to offer an extensive line-up of exhibitors, speakers, live demonstrations, workshops and networking opportunities. Taking place between 8-11 March 2025, ExCeL is served by the Custom House entrance of the Elizabeth Line, so getting there by public transport couldn’t be easier. So why is the show going to alternate between Birmingham and London in future?
“This strategy represents a great opportunity for us to reach a wide, diverse audience and opens the door for us to deliver new visitors from London and the south-east – areas which have traditionally been challenging to attract to the NEC – whilst maintaining our reach across the Midlands and northern regions,” says Jonny Sullens, MD Events at show organiser Future Plc.
