The Games Of A Lifetime
bit.ly/jaz-book
Part memoir, part cultural history, Julian ‘Jaz’ Rignall, a notable name from the early days of UK videogame magazines, supplies a mass of anecdotes here, built around his most memorable gaming encounters. His lifetime just happens to span the history of commercial gaming, and his journey begins with a chance meeting with
Pong
as a child. As he moves on past his successes in competitive gaming in the ’80s to his roles at Zzap!64, Computer & Video Games, Mean Machines and beyond, we’re given lots of behind-the-scenes insight. Amusingly, Rignall never misses an opportunity to remind us of his playing prowess, but that’s part of his winning enthusiasm for games, which remains joyously untarnished.
