DRAG X DRIVE
Developer/publisher Nintendo Release Summer
A Rocket League-infused take on wheelchair rugby, with a control scheme impossible on any other hardware: on paper, Drag X Drive is just the kind of surprise you hope to see from Nintendo. In the hands, though, we’re less sure. You hold both Joy-Cons in the mouse configuration, then pull them back like a toy car in order to spin your chair’s wheels, the feedback of the controllers implying friction against your palms. It’s an inherently satisfying action, but over the course of two tutorials and three matches we never quite manage to translate that into smooth movement, let alone landing shots and pulling off skateboard-style tricks to boost our score. It might just be a case of perseverance, but drab tech-demo presentation saps our motivation.
