A NEW £15 million station to serve Inverness Airport was formally opened by Scotland’s Transport Minister Jenny Gilruth on February 2, with passenger services commencing the following day.
Work began on the twoplatform station in October 2021, and as well as passengers using the airport (800-metre walk), the station will cater for improved travel links to the growing Inverness Airport Business Park and the new town of Tornagrain on the nearby A96. Prior to the construction of the station, the line at this location was single, so the passing loop between Inverness and Nairn, with the 160m-long platforms, will provide some capacity and resilience improvements.
