There’s something about issue 42. Perhaps it’s the entirely legitimate excuse to raid the Level 42 back catalogue, or perhaps it’s simply another cracking collection of classic, retro and modern cars. Either way, the new issue is here. No slap bass required.
Pop into town to buy a copy, and you could soon be, ahem, living it up with our story on the Kia Elan, which, as the name suggests, was a South Korean take on Hethel’s experiment with front-wheel drive. Mike Rutherford – no, not that one – wasn’t enamoured when he drove one in period, but we rather enjoyed being let loose in Kia’s prized example.
Elsewhere, Antony Ingram tells us what it’s like to drive the pint-sized Honda City Turbo II, which comes complete with a Motocompo in the boot. It’s the sort of car that looks fun even when it’s standing still. Come for the brilliant words; stay for the fabulous photos, including several shots of owner Pete riding the Motocompo.
Meanwhile, Dan Bevis gets up close and personal with an E23 BMW 7 Series in a surprisingly soggy Luton, Rich Duisberg explores his love-hate relationship with ye olde Land Rovers of yesteryear, and our editor celebrates 30 years of the Citroën Berlingo in Picture Past.
If that’s not enough, the wonderfully eclectic mix of a DAF 55 Coupé, Talbot Samba Cabriolet and VW Passat W8 fills the Your Classics slot, while Dimitri Urbain picks six of the best Renaults with an Argentine connection.
