MUIR ENDS HER SEASON IN STYLE

Laura Muir: duly took the win after a great summer

AFTER her recent British recordbreaking exploits, Laura Muir was perhaps the strongest favourite of the day and she took the mile in style, although Alison Leonard mounted a strong late surge to finish less than half a second behind.

Muir, who finished a close runnerup to Jenny Simpson at the 5th Avenue Mile the previous weekend, clocked 4:33.99 ahead of Leonard’s 4:34.42 as Katie Mackey of the United States was third followed by Brits Laura Weightman, Eilish McColgan, Steph Twell and Sarah McDonald.
