S et during the Irish stage of the scandal-hit 1998 Tour De France, this absorbing but uneven drama centres on ageing support rider Dom (Louis Talpe) who harbours dreams of winning his first yellow jersey, even as his body struggles with the startling side effects of heavy doping. A half‐hearted romance and pat ending disappoint, but Talpe’s captivating performance – essaying a blend of determination and vulnerability – keeps the pedals turning. Credit, too, to Iain Glen, clearly enjoying himself as Dominique’s lairy soigneur.
