In my experience cycling is a pretty good substitute for running when you’re injured. I’ve had many running injuries over my career as a pro triathlete and have managed to race (and win) several times off the back of two weeks of run training. Cycling helped me develop a much bigger aerobic base. As a triathlete, when you take out the running, it’s incredible how much harder you can ride. It shows just how much of an impact running has on muscle fatigue.
