Mikey Lewis celebrates as Elliot Minchella races away to score
THE mood gets bleaker by the week at Wakefield Trinity.
They were never in this contest against Hull KR as they suffered a sixth defeat from six to start the campaign. Just five days earlier Wakefield were beaten on golden point at Salford Red Devils, by far their best performance of the season so far, but on this evidence that was less a turning point and more a high point.
Instead this kind of night, in front of a largely silent and perhaps mournful Belle Vue, seems to be the new normal. You fear this is going to be a long, long season.
As soon as Sam Wood opened the scoring after 13 minutes, the result seemed inevitable. Only poor goalkicking kept Wakefield in the contest as regards the scoreboard, with further tries for Louis Senior, Tom Opacic and Kane Linnett only taking Hull KR to 18-0 at half-time, but they were never in the contest in a competitive sense.
