Wakefield’s final try, a sweeping move from right wing to left which was finished by Lee Kershaw, demonstrated their increasing confidence.
THEY couldn’t, could they?
That was the question being asked by many in Wakefield - and perhaps some a few miles east too - after Trinity picked up only their second win of the season.
Wakefield have been truly woeful for much of the year, lacking leadership, cohesion, confidence, and much more besides.
Even their first win, three weeks earlier in their previous home game, came against a notoriously up-anddown Leeds side by the skin of their teeth.
But here they looked, well, quite good.
Salford were understrength, no doubt, the absence of spine players Ryan Brierley, Brodie Croft and Andy Ackers unquestionably contributing to what their coach Paul Rowley described as “the worst performance” of his year-and-a-half tenure.
