LEAGUE ONE ROUND-UP
DEWSBURY RAMS coach Liam Finn says there will always be space for Paul Sykes (right) at the club if the veteran halfback decides to play on.
Sykes' try and four goals against Oldham took him to 1,009 points for the club and with it, he became only the second player in Dewsbury's history to break the 1,000-points barrier.
The 41-year-old, who starred in Super League with London Broncos, Bradford and Wakefield, joined his hometown club in 2016 and despite being one of the elder statesmen in the game, Finn believes he could carry on for even longer.
"What a player he has been for so long," Finn told the Dewsbury Reporter.
"He wanted to do it for his hometown club at the back-end of his career but I don't think even he envisaged being here so long at Dewsbury.
"As a coach, I can't ask for a better player. He just comes in and does the business. His toughness to still be playing at his age is exceptional. He deserves every accolade he gets and long may it continue.
