RESIZING PARTITIONS
Command (m for help): n
QUICK TIP
OUR EXPERT
While fdisk can’t be used to resize existing partitions, you can modify partitions with the parted utility. The process isn’t without risk however, so make sure you have a complete backup of all your data, and more importantly, very good reason to mess about with nonempty partitions. A read-through of the manual can’t hurt, either.
Partition type
Commands in the commandmode are context sensitive. This means that the ‘L’ command to list all supported filesystem types won’t work from the main command mode of fdisk. You must first type ‘t’ to change the type and only then can you use the ‘L’ command.
