Capture better pictures of plants, pets, and more elusive wildlife

As well as shooting wide-angle panoramic pictures, your iPhone is geared up to capture close encounters with flora and fauna. Plants and animals open up a whole new range of fabulous subjects to shoot so, on this spread, we’ll explore suitable photographic techniques, plus shooting modes and third-party accessories that will ensure that you don’t miss your next wildlife photo opportunity.
1 Marvellous macro
Your iPhone’s Ultra Wide 0.5x (13mm) camera produces a wide-angle landscape view, but it can also capture super close subjects due to its short focal distance. When you move your iPhone a handspan away from a subject, a yellow flower icon appears, indicating the Camera app has switched to using the 0.5x camera as a Macro lens. This automatic switch happens regardless of whatever lens was selected previously.
