THINKS THE iPHONE AIR IS THE MOST MAGICAL DEVICE THAT APPLE HAS MADE IN YEARS – DESPITE ITS EVIDENT SHORTCOMINGS
Every year, I automatically buy a Pro model iPhone but, this year, for the first time, I found myself hesitating. I actually had a choice, and I didn’t know what to do. On the one hand, the iPhone 17 Pro offers years of refinement to Apple’s flagship smartphone, while on the other, the new iPhone Air offers something truly different.
So, on launch day, I purchased an iPhone 17 Pro in Cosmic Orange and an iPhone Air in Sky Blue, unsure whether to follow my head and opt for the powerhouse Pro, or follow my heart and be swayed by the elegant Air. After unboxing both, it was apparent that the iPhone Air offers a fresh experience compared to the Pro, especially for someone who’s invested in nearly every iPhone released over the last decade. While I knew I would love the form of the Air, the decision would ultimately depend on whether this sleek, ultra-thin device could keep up with my daily needs. For example, if after a weekend with the iPhone Air, I felt let down by the smaller battery, the single camera, and the lone speaker, then I’d reach for the 17 Pro, a phone that gives me everything I could want in an iPhone apart from the spark of newness.
