When not behind the kit for the likes of Deeds Of Flesh and last year’s awesome Serpent Of Gnosis project, Darren Cesca also proves his ridiculous string skills in this blistering one-man outing. It’s Pillory’s first effort in six years, which means Darren clearly has a lot of ideas to get out, but results in an hour of almost relentless shredding, rhythmical acrobatics and schizophrenic vocals that leaves you impressed but incapable of much cognitive function. The frantic stop-start nature of Diluted Existence and the 11-minute maelstrom of Emanate Deprecation evoke the chaos of The Dillinger Escape Plan played by Origin on some distant planet, while Synergistic Diffusion and Inherent Genetic Collapse briefly settle into some chunky riffing that ground the frenzied dynamics. ■■■■■■■■■■
