“ What makes this layout great? The ingenuity shown by Andrew to add both distance and interest with his garden section has transformed ‘Spencer Road’ from a great end-to-end layout into a fabulous multi-dimensional creation. ”
2 ‘Spencer Road’ can be operated in a day or night setting thanks to the addition of numerous lights around the layout. These are all powered from a 9V supply and give the layout a completely different feel compared to daylight operation.
Sometimes the best way to tackle something completely new is to just dive right into it. Begin by breaking the overall task into smaller chunks, working on one element at a time, to avoid becoming overwhelmed by the seeming enormity of a project.
This philosophy can be introduced to many walks of life, including modelling. Indeed, it’s a tactic employed successfully by Andrew Whittle when he came to create his first layout, ‘Spencer Road’. Accordingly, the project developed over three years and he’s now added an extension that runs out into his garden!
