MOJOWORKING
48 YEARS AFTER THEIR FIRST, THE BLOCKHEADS RETURN TO THE STUDIO
Reasons to be cheerful: original Blockheads Chaz Jankel (left) and Mick Gallagher still doing it themselves.
“OUR BACK catalogue is very attractive,” says Blockheads guitar/keyboardist/songwriter Chaz Jankel, reasonably, of a setlist that includes such out-and-out golden panaceas as Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, Reasons To Be Cheerful, Part 3 and Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick, all of which he wrote with late Blockheads lodestar Ian Dury. “But it’s almost a bit too reliable, like you’re always looking over your shoulder. So we like to come up with something fresh too.”
