The John Peel Collection
Value: TBC
On July 29, Omega Auctions of Newton-Le-Willows puts items from The John Peel Collection up for bidding. The broadcasting legend clearly understood the value of maintaining archives: the haul includes acetates of records by The Who, Marc Bolan, The Cure, the Stones and Dylan; the Joy Division Ideal For Living 12-inch with a handwritten letter from manager Rob Gretton; flyers and handbills for New Order, the Sex Pistols and Led Zeppelin; and an original Pink Floyd
See Emily Play advertising display. We were, though, particularly taken by Peelie’s T-shirts – Cramps, Smiths, Pistols, Clash, Ramones, Undertones and more among them – which appear to be in a strikingly good state of unfaded preservation. See omegaauctions. co.uk for more info.
