Live and kicking: (clockwise from above left) Ronnie and Keith in The New Barbarians; kind of blue: Jarvis Cocker; sprog rock: Depeche Mode and Black Sabbath used the same baby image; quiet storm: the Melvins’ Buzz Osborne.
As a proud citizen of the county of Somerset I have been a life-long fan of The Wurzels. It has always interested me that the late, great Adge Cutler never recorded a studio album – all of his releases being live recordings at pubs and clubs around Somerset (Royal Oak, Nailsea, The Webbington Country Club, etc). Are there any other artists that only ever recorded live, and never in a studio?

MOJO says: Great question, Kevin! It’s not common but it has happened. One big name example was The New Barbarians, the Ron Wood/Keith Richards-and-friends superband that toured North America and supported Led Zeppelin at Knebworth in 1979: their one official LP was Buried Alive: Live In Maryland in 2006.
