Work starts on construction of new Gaelic school on Skye

A MAJOR milestone in the development of Gaelic language in the Highlands has been reached as the construction of a new school on Skye gets under way.

An £8.7 million project to build a primary school in Portree was marked on Monday with the cutting of the first sod on the new site.

Pupils, councillors and representatives from Robertson Construction who are overseeing the build congregated to celebrate the progress.
