Council plans 90 job cuts to help plug £20m black hole

THE council plans to axe nearly 90 full-time jobs to save £11 million over the next three years, helping to plug its projected £20.2 million shortfall – meaning more cuts will be needed.

Next year alone, Argyll and Bute Council has estimated a budget gap between £8.5 million in the worst case scenario, and £0.9 million at best. Over the next three years it needs to find expected savings of between £11.1 million and £33.9 million.
