Five years into his Linux switch, Nik Rawlinson explains why he will never go back – and why he thinks PC Pro readers should follow his lead

o long, Windows 10. As mentioned at the outset, Microsoft will end support from its decade-old operating system later this year. So, if you haven’t already upgraded to Windows 11, now would be a good time to consider your next step. Sticking with Windows is one option but, as our reviews hopefully show, switching to Linux is a viable alternative.
The last time I wrote a Linux Labs, I said the platform had come of age: nothing that’s happened since then has changed my mind. Together, the various distributions cater for just about any requirement, whether that’s photo editing on a high-end workstation or breathing new life into a decades-old machine that would otherwise head for recycling.
