EOSRSYSTEM
First steps into full-frame
What are the big differences between an EOS R system camera and an EOS DSLR – and how does Canon’s first full-frame mirrorless camera body shape up today?
The EOS R was the first camera in the EOS R system and gave a taste of the capability of Canon’s full-frame mirrorless technology, rather than delivering, perhaps, a full threecourse dinner. Armed with a 30Mp full-frame CMOS sensor, Dual Pixel CMOS AF, 8fps continuous shooting speed and 4K video, it ticked a lot of technical boxes. But it was the RF mount – Canon’s first full-frame lens mount since the debut of the EF system in 1987 – that was the big talking point.
