Make sure you never shoot mono by mistake
ONE OF the drawbacks of using an EOS DSLR, which has an optical viewfinder, is that you can’t preview image processing effects such as White Balance and Picture Style. This means that there is a risk that you can have the incorrect setting applied. If you’ve been taking a batch of black-and-white photos and forget to reset to a colour Picture Style, then you might end up taking more mono pictures the next time you pick up your camera. It’s not a problem if you shoot Raw, but if you shoot JPEGs or video clips, it definitely will be. Thankfully, some cameras can display a warning in the viewfinder and camera screens when the Monochrome Picture Style is set, along with a range of other potentially problematic settings. Look for this option in the yellow Set-up or Custom Functions menu.
