BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR TARA TRAFFIC:
NEIL DINNEN
It was announced on April 17 that an agreement had been reached with the unions to allow Tara Mines to reopen on a phased basis from June. Before the announcement, it was planned to move the 34 dedicated wagons to Limerick for storage. The first of three such trains operated on April 15, when No. 075 moved 12 wagons, working the 09.37 North Wall to Limerick transfer. It is seen arriving into the up loop at Ballybrophy and on arrival it was held in the loop when one of the wagons developed a wheel flat and the train was failed.
