IGNITING YOUR CREATIVE SPARK

Whatever you choose – photography, crafting, painting, or something else – creativity can provide escapism, relaxation or adventure. A trio of people tell us how artistic pursuits have shaped their lives

“I feel that my eyes are doing what they’re meant to be doing, and my hands are doing what they’re meant to be doing. It relaxes me; I feel complete” NAOMI WILSON, 27, PHOTOGRAPHER

My mum was into photography when I was growing up and I always wanted in on the action. I got my first camera when I was seven and took photographs of my hamsters, my barbies, my family. I was that irritating child on school trips who took thousands of photographs.

Taking photographs isn’t just something I enjoy; it’s something I need to do. I have this desperate urge to pick up my camera and if I haven’t done that in a while I actually feel quite tense. So when I do, it really relaxes me; I feel complete. My mind is always working, but in those times, it’s working in a different kind of a way. I feel that my eyes are doing what they’re meant to be doing, and my hands are doing what they’re meant to be doing.
