Andrea Huser proved herself as one of the world’s top ultra and mountain runners, competing at the highest levels for two decades, including a win at the Ultra Trail World Tour in 2017. This followed on from her last big win at the 2017 Ultra Trail Tai Mo Shan in Hong Kong. In both 2016 and 2017, she won the Grand Raid de la Réunion, an annual ultrarace that takes part in October every year on Réunion island, situated between Madagascar and Mauritius. The 162K route has 9,643m of elevation gain and is reputed to be one of the hardest and most brutal footraces in the world. She also placed second at the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc in 2016 and 2017, after a seventh in 2014.
