STAR LETTER
A fine example
For as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a writer. As a child, even before I could write, my parents took dictations and throughout my time at school, I wrote stories, poems and plays. My daughters, who are now eight and eleven, also want to be writers!
This year my youngest daughter has become more independent and types up her own stories. She thinks up ideas for new stories every day and her output is incredible. We only have one downstairs living room, so she doesn’t have a special place for her writing. She writes even if someone else is watching TV, talking or practising a musical instrument just a few feet away. She writes in the ten-minute gap between a drama class and a piano lesson. She writes her stories instead of getting dressed in the morning for school and won’t go to bed at night because she wants to write. During the February half-term holiday, she wrote a play, complete with stage directions, printed out ten copies and gave them out to her school friends. All the other parents assumed it was something official from the school.
