These days, when lots of us have dishwashers, we probably spend rather less time at the kitchen sink. But the process of dealing with dirty dishes, washing them, whether by hand or machine, then drying and putting them away, can still take a fair chunk of time – time that can, as the famous crime writer said, be put to good use thinking about the writing you’re going to do.
