Five quick questions
with Cathie Hartigan
When and where did your journey as an author begin?
In the early noughties, I signed up for a creative writing correspondence course and the tutor was enormously encouraging. I remember the excitement of opening the envelope to read her comments. About the same time, my mother, who was a dedicated Woman & Home reader, told me about the short story competition they used to run. Making it to the shortlist was exactly the spur I needed, and I’ve been writing seriously ever since.
