RNA matters
The Romantic Novel of the Year Awards, the UK’s most prestigious awards for romantic fiction, began in 1960 and are given by the Romantic Novelists’ Association, writes Gary Dalkin.
This year’s awards ceremony was held in London in May, and the winners were announced as: Fantasy Romantic Novel Award: Now Comes the Mist, Julie C. Dao (Podium); Debut: Plot Twist, Breea Keenan (Headline); Romantic Thriller: Whatever it Takes, Joy Wood (self published); Festive Holiday Romantic Novel: The Secret Santa Project, Tracy Bloom (HarperCollins); Shorter Romantic Novel: Camera Shy, Julia Boggio (self published); Romantic Comedy: Love Me Till Wednesday, Suzanne Lissaman (self published);
Contemporary Romantic Novel: A Love Letter to Paris, Rebecca Raisin (Boldwood); Romantic Saga: Secrets for the Three Sisters, Annie Groves (HarperCollins). The Historical Romantic Novel Award was given jointly to The Wicked Lady, Elena Collins (Judy Leigh) (Boldwood) and The Last Song of Winter, Lulu Taylor (Macmillan).
Also presented was the Popular Romantic Fiction Award, which is voted for by readers, librarians, booksellers and book bloggers and reviewers. Their collective choice was All the Painted Stars by Emma Denny (HQ).
