WRITERS’ CIRCLES
CREATIVE COLLABORATION
Stuck with your writing? Try these fun group exercises from Julie Phillips that demonstrate how working with other people can help solve the dreaded block.
So there are times in our writing life when the words refuse to flow. We get stuck on a scene, a character behaves in a way we didn’t expect, or we just can’t come up with a surprise twist or satisfying ending. This month’s writing exercises involve looking at our writing from a different angle and problem solving, allowing you to take time out from your writing and engage your brain in a different way to help you get back on track.
Move it!
Writing can be a solitary pursuit but sometimes, when we are stuck and don’t know how to move on, two heads can definitively be better than one. Online writing forums, social media and writing groups are a great way to pool resources and ideas and to network with other writers to talk about writing issues. For this exercise, it’s going to take team work and cooperation to reach your goal.
