Wind And Wuthering: The Story Of Kate Bush’s The Kick Inside

In March 1978, a young singer-songwriter called Kate Bush shot to the top of the UK singles charts with Wuthering Heights. Based on Emily Brontë’s gothic novel of the same name, it was the centrepiece of Bush’s debut album, The Kick Inside, and introduced her elegant songwriting and explosive baroque pop to the unsuspecting masses. With a little help from some early collaborators and a few famous fans, Prog charts her journey from teenage wonder to one of the most unique and influential artists of the modern age.

Behind The Veil

In 1980, to coincide with the release of Never For Ever, future Prog writer Kris Needs approached a young Kate Bush for an interview. She took some convincing, but eventually agreed to not just one, but three, all of which took place at various intervals during the height of her commercial success. In this personal account, Needs recalls some of the most in-depth discussions that took place during the artist’s formative decade

Every month we get inside the mind of one of the biggest names in music. This issue it’s Phil Manzanera. Best known for his work in Roxy Music, the British-born guitarist’s fascinating life is captured in his recent memoir, Revolución To Roxy.
