PRESS/DAVID ALBONE
GUY MANNING The great and good of progressive music give us a glimpse into their prog worlds. As told to Grant Moon.
Where’s home?
Leeds, Yorkshire.
What’s your earliest prog memory?
Hearing [ELP’s] Tarkus when it first came out [in 1971]. I vividly remember the cover.
What was the first prog album you bought?
Wishbone Ash’s Argus on its release [1972]. Before that I bought early Lindisfarne and Alice Cooper records, which I still love.
And the latest?
I’ve been really getting into 5.1 mixes of late, so I’ve bought loads of my favourite albums on 5.1 –Zappa’s Over-Nite Sensation, Gentle Giant’s The Power And The Glory, Tears For Fears’ The Seeds Of Love, and many more.
