Take a bow
DAVID GILMOUR
VENUE CIRCO MASSIMO, ROME, ITALY DATE 27/09/2024
The setting couldn’t be more perfect. Rome’s majestic Circus Maximus, the hub of chariot-racing for the ancient Romans, is bathed in late-September sunshine without a cloud in the sky as an excited audience make their way into the arena for the first night of David Gilmour’s tour in support of his latest No.1 album, Luck And Strange.
Gilmour will play to nearly 100,000 people here in Rome, before heading to London’s Royal Albert Hall for a further six nights and then New York and Los Angeles. The nature of the tour has, of course, not pleased everyone, and there have been the inevitable online moans, but quite frankly, at 78 years old, and after such a stellar career to date, one is tempted to think that Gilmour can decide exactly where he wants to play and when.
