‘Great progress’ with Chiltern tunnel
BY late November, 19 of the 38 emergency cross-passages, linking the northbound and southbound bores of HS2’s 10-mile tunnel under the Chilterns, had been completed.
“We’re making great progress on the Chiltern tunnel, with approaching nine out of the 10 miles complete, and our crosspassage teams are catchingup fast,” said HS2 Ltd project manager Aaron Harrison.
Contractor sought for people mover works
THE process of finding a contractor to take charge of the enabling works for the automated people mover (APM) – which will link HS2’s Interchange station, north-east of Solihull, with the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham International railway station and Birmingham Airport – is underway. Topographical and utility surveys and ground investigations will form part of the enabling programme in a deal worth up to £2 million.
