Bloc Party’s 2022 LP Alpha Games returned them to their electrifying best, but it’s been hard to focus on the band’s re-emergence with Kele Okereke releasing three solo albums either side of it. Obviously, artists shouldn’t be criticised for being prolific, but Pt. 3’s reliance on guitar and loop pedal inevitably makes for a similar feel throughout. Beautiful as Kele’s voice is, only the elegant Kintsugi stands out from the atmosphere of busking at its artiest. Taking the best of his trilogy and letting the repetition slide would have been a more interesting move.
