Although billed as the first A Flock Of Seagulls album of new songs since 1995, there will be question marks on whether this counts as a proper AFOS LP. While the original line-up reunited for orchestral reworkings albums Ascension and String Theory in 2018 and 2021, none of them have made it onto Mike Score’s new tunes.
There are 28 former members of AFOS listed on Wikipedia – only then-new keyboardist Sare Havlicek survives from String Theory. Fellow keyboardist Mikal Reid plus drummers Ben Lecourt and Alex Toff are veteran sessioners. Everything else, bar psychedelic trumpet courtesy of Beyoncé associate Kiku Collins on the album’s most out-there moment, Got To Get To You, is played by Score himself.
