In a year of multiple games ultimately failing to deliver on the promise we saw when they were awarded pride of place on the cover of the magazine, how bracing it was that the one with the grandest ambitions of them all was the one that delivered. If anything, in fact, Elden Ring over-delivered. And, given the absurd expectations surrounding it, how could exceeding them possibly fail to propel it to the uppermost position on our list?
