“HOLD ON,” SAYS Greg Nicotero. “I have the tooth!” And with that, the Walking Dead wizard, the ‘N’ in leading effects house KNB, disappears from the frame of our Zoom call. He returns seconds later, brandishing a great white tooth. Not just any tooth. This is the tooth that a particular shark left embedded in the hull of Ben Gardner’s boat. “I got a casting of the tooth from [special-effects artist] Roy Arbogast,” says Nicotero, schoolboy-giddy. “I did a little touch-up on the bottom to make it look more like a real tooth.”
