The start of resurfacing work on the A82 between Fort William and Inverness has been welcomed by Councillor Allan Henderson. The Caol and Mallaig Highland Council representative, who is also chairman of the council’s environment, development and infrastructure committee, said: ‘I welcome this spend, the continuing improvements and the investment in the A82 which I regularly travel on from my home in Fort William. ‘On behalf of the local communities and road users I have been lobbying for the planned works to be done overnight to keep disruption to a minimum. I really appreciate BEAR Scotland listening and changing this work from a daytime closure, which would have meant drivers having a long detour. Having the work carried out at night will disrupt far fewer people’s travel plans.’ Work started on Sunday between Invergarry and Invermoriston. It is due to last five weeks with overnight closures in place Sunday to Thursday nights, 7pm to 6am.
