The story we publish this week about the Robertson family and their unswerving commitment to Lochaber Pipe Band is genuinely a heart-warming one. As we report, the Inverlochy family’s life is dominated by the pipe band and its activities, with mum Moira pipe major, dad Iain band secretary and daughter Laura playing in the band. This commitment is thrown into especially sharp relief at the moment as the Royal National Mòd is imminent, starting as it does later this month in Dunoon. Young Laura took home an impressive haul of awards from last year’s Mòd, held, appropriately, in Fort William and other Lochaber venues. The effort and time devoted to the band by all the Robertsons is admirable but they are seeking more people to come forward and join the ranks. We would urge anyone with piping links to consider joining in.
