Young Gaelic speakers have a ‘duty to pass on the language’ to the next generation, Kate Forbes MSP said in a keynote speech last week.
On Thursday evening, the MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch delivered the inaugural John Macleod memorial address in Gaelic at the University of Edinburgh.
For a decade the late Mr Macleod was president of An Comunn Gàidhealach, which organises the prestigious Royal National Mòd each year, and had a particular passion for encouraging young people in the Gaelic community. He passed away suddenly in 2018.
