A number of hotels and their staff in the West Highlands have received regional and people of excellence awards in the 2019 Scottish Hotel Awards. Among the recipients were The George Hotel, Inveraray; Glefi nnan House Hotel; Taychreggan Hotel, Kilchrenan; Inverlochy Castle Hotel, Fort William; The Lodge on Loch Lomond; Glengarry Castle Hotel; Skeabost House Hotel, Skye; Hotel Eilean Iarmain, Sleat; Duisdale House Hotel, Skye; Loch Leven Hotel, Ballachulish; Bridge of Orchy Hotel; Ardanaiseig Hotel, Kilchrenan; Isle of Eriska Hotel, nr Oban; and Loch Melfort Hotel and Restaurant, Arduaine. The regional ceremony event took place on January 15.
Perle Hotels, which owns the Marmalade and Bosville Hotels on the Isle of Skye, and the Perle Oban Hotel, has purchased Lochardil House Hotel in Inverness for an undisclosed sum. Set in its own gardens, the 28-bedroom hotel is regarded as one of the finest in the Highlands. Twelve of the bedrooms are in the original Victorian hotel building, with 16 bedrooms in the adjacent Garden Wing.
Total new orders growth picked up in the three months to January 2019, according to the latest Industrial Trends Survey for Scotland, with export and domestic orders both strengthening following declines in the previous quarter. But total new orders are expected to fall in the next three months, with expectations at their weakest since October 2015.
