BOEING AND Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) have strengthened their partnership, with both companies saying it will enhance their competitiveness. This latest agreement includes a programme of activity to reduce production costs of the 787 Dreamliner wing manufactured by MHI at its factory in Nagoya. This will be achieved, the Japanese manufacturer says, through increased efficiency of its production system as well as its supply chain. Both manufacturers will also undertake joint studies into advanced aerostructure technologies for futuregeneration commercial aircraft.
Kevin McAllister, Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO, remarked: “This agreement advances the strong relationship between Boeing and MHI through joint efforts to reduce costs and improve efficiency. Collaboration with suppliers is at the heart of our ‘Partnering for Success’ efforts, positioning our companies to win in today’s competitive marketplace and look ahead to future opportunities.
