DIVISION THREE
LEIGH EAST, who were seeking a fourth successive win, were only 18-10 behind at promotion-chasing WATERHEAD WARRIORS deep into the final quarter.
The BARLA National Cup holders, though, closed strongly with four unanswered tries for a 40-10 win.
Callum Murphy, Jake O’Grady and, with a late brace, Danny Yates denied East in a seventh successive Warriors win, with Jenson Hamilton booting the last three of his four goals.
Scott Parnaby, Daniel Bridge, Josh Fitzgerald and Hamilton had crossed earlier, while East had been in contention through tries by Cameron Clark and Kieron Prescott, one of which Kieran Wilkinson improved.
