DIVISION THREE
MILLOM narrowed the gap on third-placed LEIGH EAST with an 18-16 win, notched as retribution for the 22-20 away defeat.
East went in front in the third minute, through Ben Wharton, but the Woolybacks were 12-4 ahead early in the second period, Lee Postlethwaite having improved tries by Jackson Evans and Kyle Evans.
Andrew Ball replied for Leigh, Rio McQuistan hitting back for the Woolybacks and Postlethwaite again converting.
And although Adam Wilkes responded for East on 53 minutes, Adam Holland’s second goal reducing the arrears to a couple of points, there was to be no further score as tension mounted.
